Economic Stagnation

Couple of years ago, PM Lee has already stated that Singapore has ‘maxed out on easy ways to driving economic growth and the only way forward is to increase productivity’.

Couple of years later, we wonder why productivity is still so low, why Singapore has produced so few local companies to compete internationally.

Perhaps it’s time to take a hard look at reality. Dumping money doesn’t solve problems. Injecting foreign workers doesn’t solve problems. Good grades doesn’t solve problems. Pulling brightest talents into civil service doesn’t solve problems.

I know we’re trying to model after Israel, since there are many similarities between the two countries. However, let’s consider this – We’re doing something terribly wrong.

The uncertainty is real.
